Go the Distance
This seven-module online course provides faculty with a student experience, while meeting the needs of those with diverse teaching roles. The course models the practices and strategies we use when developing online courses for Bama By Distance students. Participants will experience a variety of content delivery methods within the course, including readings, interactive activities, videos, and course assignments.
Online Learning Labs
The Online Learning Labs are a virtual forum designed to facilitate faculty peer support and hands-on practice, and to provide solutions to common problems in the online classroom. Topics include active learning, alternative assessments, community building, instructor presence, and more. The Online Learning Labs are held the 3rd Thursday of every month, beginning October 15, 2020.
Quality Matters™ is a faculty-centered, peer reviewed process that is grounded in research and designed to ensure the quality of online courses. The components of Quality Matters™ include a set of standards for online course design, a peer-review process for application of those standards, and continuous improvement of your online course. The College of Continuing Studies provides QM™ training opportunities for UA faculty.
Online Learning Innovation Showcase (OLIS)
We know you like to hear what your colleagues are doing, and OLIS is one place you can do that. The Online Learning Innovation Showcase provides cross-campus professional development opportunities focused on innovation in online learning, in a virtual format featuring a series of webinars and online workshops. Our presenters are the Faculty, Staff, and Instructional Designers who have met the challenges of designing and teaching online courses. Presenters and participants share experiences and best practices surrounding online learning and teaching technologies in order to improve student outcomes. OLIS events are held the first Friday of every month.
Check this page for convenient, on-demand resources to help you with Blackboard and other online teaching challenges, including targeted videos and printable help. You’ll also find training and event recordings here as they occur.
